Overview

PracticeBeat is Treatspace's patient-access platform. Over a decade I helped take the company from a provider referral network into an AI-first platform that connects discovery, eligibility, scheduling, and the referral loop, and I lead the engineering and product organization that builds it.

The problem

Treatspace began as a referral network. Referrals stalled between discovery and a booked appointment because eligibility, availability, and referral rules lived in separate systems. To grow, the business had to become a full patient-access platform, not just a directory.

Approach

I led the pivot end to end across product strategy, technical architecture, and delivery, and scaled the team to match the ambition.

  • Re-platformed onto Kubernetes on GCP for 5× scale at 18% lower infrastructure cost.
  • Set the HIPAA and PHI governance posture, earning an A+ security rating five years running.
  • Built the first ML clinical decision-support model, lifting referral adherence from ~45% to over 85%.
  • Scaled engineering and product from 6 to 47, hiring the 10 managers who now lead them.

Results

The platform grew into a $3.9M ARR business with $8.9M in lifetime contract value, ARR up 8.6× and ARPU up 1,845%. Disaster recovery was proven by a two-billion-record restore in under an hour.
